On May 1 at 12:00, at the old Akademik stadium, the Sofia Bears will meet the Turkish college team - Yeditepe Eagles.
The match promises to be an interesting clash as the two teams meet for the first time. American football in Turkey has been developing at an extremely fast pace in the last few years. The basis for this is the college teams formed voluntarily by students, which supply well-prepared players to the many semi-professional teams of the Turkish American Football League. Turkish teams have already started playing at the European level and are now a serious competition to the otherwise dominant teams from the Serbian championship in this region.
Against this background, the only Bulgarian team with full equipment - Sofia Bears is looking to compete with the best teams from these two championships.
Despite the lack of money and sponsors, despite the news that the stadium where they train will be sold to build offices and parking lots, nevertheless the team plays at the international level and defends the name of Bulgaria in this new sport, mainly thanks to its many fans, the growing interest in American football and the dedication of its players.
Come to the Old Academic Stadium on May 1 at 12 o'clock to spend a wonderful and spectacular sports afternoon.
