On June 26, 2016, in Kralevo, Serbia, the Sofia Bears hosted the Obrenovac Hawks for the quarterfinals of the Serbian American Football League.
The Bulgarians, who were symbolic hosts, had no problem defeating the Obrenovac Hawks team. The Bears' offense was unstoppable on the day, thanks to RB Aleksandar Mitsov picking up yards with ease, which opened up the passing game as well, where QB Nikolay Georgiev found free receivers with ease. The defense also had one of its most productive games – several interceptions, 3 TDs, a blocked punt, etc. However, as the first in their group, the Bulgarians played against the weakest team from the other group and won convincingly with 57 to 0. The Sofia Bears also achieved an interesting record - for the longest field goal scored by a Bulgarian team - almost 50 yards, scored by Alexander Bogdanov.
The next semi-final match will be decisive. Despite the 4 wins so far, even just one loss could end the Bears perfect season so far. Thus, the match against the Golden Bears from Bor hides a very big charge. Despite the Bears winning the first clash of the season against them, Bor's side have momentum after 3 straight wins and are determined to thwart the Bulgarians' plans to play in the second division from next season.
