On July 16 and 17, a unique two-day training camp and American football tournament was held in the city of Varna.

The "Sofia Bears" team, which was also the main organizer of the event together with volunteers from the American "Peace Corps" and the Municipality of Varna, is visiting the city.

The first day began with an official opening and a two-hour training session for the young people who came and wanted to try the sport. A total of 80 people attended the training, under the scorching Saturday sun.

In the second part of the day, the Sofia Bears faced the Romanian team Bucharest Warriors, also a participant in the two-day camp. The two teams played according to the rules of the American arena football - 8 on 8 players with full equipment. After a contested first part, the Bulgarians took matters into their own hands and their better physical preparation is evident. The final score was 42:6 for the "Bears", and the Varna audience saw live a real American football game, with extremely spectacular performances.

On the second day, all participants were divided into 4 teams and an American flag football tournament was held. For some, it was their first American football game. The teams were led by the captains of the Sofia Bears team and were mixed teams with players from the Bears, Bucharest Predators and the young team Dobrich Reapers.
 

After many interesting moments and plays, the winner was determined - the team with captain Anton Doikov and in the composition - 3 players from "Bucharest Predators" and 5 from "Dobrich Reapers".

We hope that this tournament will inspire more cities in Bulgaria to found their own football teams.

The Bears team will continue to hold similar events in different cities in the country.
