A new era for American football in Southeast Europe: 2026 sees the launch of the Danube American Football League (DAFL). Three countries, several cities, one league.

Four teams play the first season: the Sofia Bears, multiple Serbian champions Kragujevac Wild Boars, Romanian champions Bucharest Rebels and the Bucharest Titans. The season starts on 4 April with games in Sofia, Bucharest and Kragujevac.

The league is a step towards a stronger, more competitive regional stage. For the Bears it also means a Bulgarian team playing at the highest level in the Balkans for the first time.
